Turning Point USA’s “All-American Halftime Show” Was Pre-Taped: Report

Not only did headliner Kid Rock appear to be performing to a pre-recorded track during Turning Point USA’s “All-American Halftime Show,” but it’s now been reported that the entire mini-concert was pre-taped ahead of its airing opposite Bad Bunny’s live Super Bowl LX halftime show.

Citing sources, Variety reports that the “All-American Halftime Show” was pre-taped in Atlanta. For its part, Turning Point has never officially commented on where the performances were broadcast from or if they occurred in real time.

If accurate, it makes Kid Rock’s performance even more head-scratching.

As previously reported, while the country artists on the bill appeared to be singing live, Kid Rock seemed to be lip-syncing to his rap-rock hit “Bawitdaba” when he took the stage, or at least just rapping a few words here and there as a pre-recorded track played. He did appear to sing live when he returned to perform a cover of Cody Johnson’s “‘Til You Can’t.”

Turning Point USA’s halftime show drew about 6 million viewers during its initial live stream, according to the New York Times, while Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show received roughly 135 million viewers, an all-time high, according to CBS News.

Meanwhile, fans of Kid Rock can apparently catch him performing live when he embarks on his recently announced headlining “Freedom 250” tour in May, as well as on select dates of the Rock the Country traveling festival.
