Anthrax and Z2 have announced NOT: The Illustrated Oral History of Anthrax graphic album set for release on March 16th, 2027. The thrash metal legends and the comic book company previously collaborated on the graphic novel adaptation of the band’s album Among the Living in 2021.
The new graphic album sees a number of artists from across the comic landscape adapting stories of Anthrax’s lives and career, from their early days seeing KISS and befriending Metallica and Pantera to the long arc of their thrash metal career including their Public Enemy collaboration and appearance on Married… With Children! The deluxe edition also includes a 12″ greatest-hits picture disc featuring the band’s Notman character.

McQuade (MAD Magazine), Jim Mahfood (Grrl Scouts), Sawblade (Terrorat), Brent Engstrom (Garbage Pail Kids), John Bergin (Golgothika), Abimael Hernandez (Frizzle Fry), Montos (Blondie), Zach Gross (Space Junk Punks), Pat Moriarity (The Rocket, Real Stuff), JayJay Jackson (Marvel, Valiant), Franco Aureliani (Tiny Titans), Steve Kurth (Dee Snider), Luke McGarry (Vans Warped Tour). Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante stated, “Being a band for 40+ years you have stories, you have experiences, and the way we’re telling the stories and experiences with Z2 is a great way for us and the fans to actually visualize these little stories in comic book form. Anthrax’s newest album, Cursum Perficio, will be out September 18th featuring both the single “It’s for the Kids,” which we named Heavy Song of the Week, and “The Edge of Perfection,” which guitarist Scott Ian described as the best song they’ve ever written and which we also mentioned in our Heavy Song of the Week feature.
