Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong and Epiphone have teamed up to release the limited edition Billie Joe Armstrong Les Paul Junior in radiant red.

The instrument retails for $649, making it a fairly reasonable entry point for beginners looking to get into guitar. It’s currently available via Epiphone or Reverb.

The guitar is deliberately simple, featuring one pickup and two knobs for tone and volume. The guitar has a mahogany body and neck with a rosewood fretboard, 22 jumbo frets, an Epiphone E-90 pickup, and a Lightning Bar wraparound bridge. It joins Mike Dirnt’s signature Grabber G-3 as another in the line of Green Day signature instruments through Epiphone.

Green Day are set to release the soundtrack to the upcoming comedy film NIMRODS, inspired by the band’s early days on the road. The soundtrack is due out July 31st, with the film set to hit theaters on August 14th.

Meanwhile, Armstrong’s side-project Pinhead Gunpowder are currently preparing for a North American tour set to take place this October. Get tickets here.
