A spirited rendition of a different kind of holiday song

Bleachers Perform “Merry Christmas, Please Don’t Call” on Fallon: Watch

Bleachers stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night, where they delivered a lively rendition of “Merry Christmas, Please Don’t Call.” Watch their performance below.

Jack Antonoff began playing the 2024 track while seated at the piano, accompanied by his expansive crew of musicians, including brass players, a violinist, and two drummers. The energy of the spirited performance escalated when he stood on the piano bench and then kneeled atop the instrument — without missing a beat.

A cathartic song for what can be a tough time for many, Antonoff previously described “Merry Christmas, Please Don’t Call” as a track written “for everyone who experiences the holidays as a time to clean out those who have done you wrong,” when it was released last year.

Antonoff also recently contributed solo music to the soundtrack for the new film Mother Mary, set for release in April. He joins artists including Charli XCX and FKA twigs.

This past July, Antonoff and Bleachers played a headlining set at the Newport Folk Festival, featuring appearances from Hayley Williams, Rufus Wainwright, Jeff Tweedy, and more.
