blink-182 singer-guitarist Tom DeLonge was in attendance at the San Diego Padres’ home playoff game against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night, and choked up a bit when the stadium crowd sang “All the Small Things.”
Over the past few years, the song has become a tradition at Petco Park, where it’s played whenever the Padres have the lead going into the bottom of the eighth inning. DeLonge, a lifelong Padres fan who grew up in San Diego County, has been in attendance during past games while “All the Small Things” played, but this time he appeared to get emotional as the crowd sang along to the song en masse.
Cameras caught the pop-punk musician welling up as he soaked it all in, before he got into it himself and sang the “Work sucks, I know” line while throwing up the horns. The TV announcers acknowledged the moment, with one saying, “To be in the ballpark when 43,000-plus are singing one of your biggest hits to you, I can’t imagine the feeling,” and the other adding, “That’s gotta be a musician’s World Series right there.” Watch it all go down in the clip below.
