Blondshell has revealed “Fur Elise,” the latest new song off her upcoming album Violins.
“Fur Elise” is not a cover of the Beethoven classic, though Blondshell does reference the song within the first verse: “I wanna think about a wedding when I go to sleep/ Walk down the aisle to a string quartet playing Fur Elise,” she sings in her warm, resonant alto. For Blondshell, the lyric — and the song as a whole — is about growing up and imagining your future, but not really knowing how. “You’re trying to figure out what you want your life to look like, and what you want playing at your wedding, but you don’t even know where to start. You’re picking the wrong song,” she said in a press release. Stream the anthemic “Fur Elise” below.
Violins, Blondshell’s third album, is out on September 25th. So far, she’s shared “Heart Has to Work So Hard” and “Violins,” along with news of a North American tour kicking off in October. Pre-order the new record here and get tickets to see Blondshell live here.
