Bright Eyes have announced three special shows to celebrate the 21st anniversaries of two classic albums.
The legendary indie rock band will perform the entirety of I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning and Digital Ash in a Digital Urn album at three different locales next spring.
The first show will take place at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO, on May 6th, with support from Tilly and the Wall. It will be followed up with a gig at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles with The Moldy Peaches on May 23rd. They’ll then play a concert at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, NY, with Built to Spill on June 6th.
Bright Eyes singer Conor Oberst explained how the shows came together in a statement. “I have always hated my birthdays, but I love parties,” said Oberst. “And I remember being really excited when I turned 21 for obvious reasons. So when the idea came up to celebrate the 21st anniversary of these two records that were born on the same day, Nate, Mike, and I took a long look in our full-length mirror and finally said, ‘Fuck it, why not?’”
“So we hope you can join us at one of these shows,” Oberst continued. “It will be the 3 of us and many old friends coming together to make what will hopefully be this magical thing happen. Hope to see you there. We are really excited. Love and light.”
Tickets for Bright Eyes’ anniversary shows are now available via the band’s website.
$1 of each ticket sold will benefit the band’s non-profit organization, Poison Oak Project, that is “dedicated to advancing equity for LGBTQ+ people, with a particular focus on supporting the trans community.”
