Following their initial West Coast dates back in May, Cabaret Voltaire have announced the concluding leg of their farewell North American tour.
The electronic duo will commence their final US and Canada tour with a show in Dallas on September 11th, after which they’ll head to Austin for an appearance at Levitation festival. The run continues through September with stops in Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, and New York; their North American outing will end with a set in Philadelphia on September 26th. The duo will then make their way across the pond in October to close out their farewell tour in Europe and the UK. I Speak Machine will open for the English duo throughout the tour. Cabaret Voltaire was formed in 1973 by Richard H. Kirk, Chris Watson, and Stephen Mallinder. The band made an early impression, frequently sharing bills with Joy Division and releasing records like 1980’s Three Mantras, but their initial run until 1994 was disrupted by lineup changes. They reunited in 2009, though this era served mostly as a solo vehicle for Kirk, who released Shadow of Fear under the band name in 2020. Following Kirk’s death in 2021, Watson and Mallinder came back together to perform reunion shows in 2025 to mark the group’s 50th anniversary.
Meanwhile, Cabaret Voltaire have also released a new live album, But What Time Is It Really?, available now on their webstore as well as on their upcoming tour. The live album was recorded during their 2025 UK tour and features live renditions of some of their biggest tracks.
“This record captures the powerful essence of contemporary live performance and establishes a visceral connection to the history of the band,” said Watson in a statement. Mallinder wrote, “It was an opportunity to capture the shows as a unique moment in time but also give people the opportunity to have a memento. Something that presented sounds and music, with respect to Richard’s memory, that also transcended time.”
