Charley Crockett opened up in a Tuesday social media post about a controversy that flared up after he kicked Satanic doo-wop group Twin Temple off tour dates, declaring that he “lost a lot of respect” for Jack White, who involved himself in the ordeal.
Crockett claimed in the 400-word post that he didn’t boot Twin Temple from two of his shows for their Satanic imagery. Their production request couldn’t be physically accommodated and that “raised eyebrows,” he said.

“I noticed some of the things they’d been doing on stage and after thinking about it for a couple days I decided to cut em loose,” Crockett said. “We told em the vibe just wasn’t right for an all ages audience, and we paid em in full.”
In July, Twin Temple announced Crockett had removed them from opening slots on his tour and asserted the reason was their Satanic imagery. Jack White stepped in and offered the duo an opening slot for him in September, which Twin Temple quickly accepted.
In his latest statement, Crockett addressed The White Stripes frontman’s part in the situation, saying, “As for Jack White, he used (the situation) to sell tickets too and I lost a lot of respect for him.” The country crooner then took aim at The White Stripes. “I wonder why he wasn’t so outspoken back when he was in the white stripes 20 something years ago. They purposely avoided political issues.”
The White Stripes sung about immigration on 2007’s “Icky Thump,” and in recent years, White has called Donald Trump an “obvious fascist” and “wannabe dictator” after The White Stripes sued Trump for using their music at campaign rallies. White also has expressed support for former President Barrack Obama and his wife Michelle.
Elsewhere in the statement, Crockett took some responsibility for the controversy, saying, “It’s my fault, I let ‘em slip through and being that this here’s my outfit, I’m the responsible party. I reacted. I might respond differently now but everybody’s got perfect vision in hindsight.”

Crockett kicks off the second half of his “Age of the Ram Tour” on August 28th in Canyon, Texas. White commences the latter part of his North American tour in September, supporting his latest album Frozen Charlotte. Meanwhile, Twin Temple have their own fall tour dates and a new album coming out in October.
