To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen is apparently not thrilled about the upcoming A24 movie Primetime, even if handsome Robert Pattinson is playing him. So in a preemptive move, The Hollywood Reporter reveals, Hansen has purchased preshow advertising in front of every screening of the movie to promote TruBlu, the independent streaming network he founded to continue catching predators.

The official description for director Lance Oppenheim’s Primetime is “In 2006, To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen sets out to make television history.” The latest trailer reveals a fictionalized behind-the-scenes look at the NBC news show’s production, co-starring Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, and Phoebe Bridgers in her first major acting role.

Hansen has apparently not seen the movie yet, because A24 wouldn’t let him screen it early without signing an agreement to not take legal action against the project. (THR reports that he is in fact consulting with attorneys about his options.)

Recently, Hansen appeared as an interview subject in the documentary Predators, which explored the lasting impact of To Catch a Predator on society. It’s streaming now on Paramount+, and is also available on VOD via Apple and Amazon. Primetime, meanwhile, will hit theaters on September 25th. Check out the latest trailer below.
