Claud is back to announce their third album, Me and the Music, out on October 23rd via Dead Oceans. They’ve also shared a new single, “She Doesn’t Love Me.”
Me and the Music is Claud’s first new album since 2023’s Supermodels. The project was produced by John Congleton and finds Claud embracing themes of optimism, relief, and fun. “I was just sick of taking everything so seriously — Supermodels was such a serious record, and I just sulked in feelings for so long,” said Claud in a press release. “Such terrible things have happened in this country the last few years, but I’ve only grown closer to the people around me because of that. The world has shown me that the worst can happen, but it might just bring you closer to your community. There’s a difference between being sincere with life and taking life too seriously.”
“She Doesn’t Love Me,” the album’s first single, demonstrates the new project’s brighter sound. Throughout, Claud expresses disillusionment with living in America over a chipper instrumental, but despite the country’s problems, they’re sticking around. “I won’t go, I won’t leave/ I love America, she don’t love me,” they sing in the refrain after chanting “Beers in the air, beers in the air” in the pre-chorus. “I love the community I have in America and find so much optimism in people being united in seeking progress,” said Claud. “This is a love song for that community.” The track arrives with a music video featuring cameos from Clairo, Samia, Annie DiRusso, and more; watch it below.
