Paramount Pictures is developing a live-action movie adaptation of Cyberpunk 2077, the dystopian sci-fi video game starring Keanu Reeves, Deadline reports. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, G.I. Joe) is attached to produce alongside developer CD Projekt Red. No further details are known.
Set in the fictional Night City, Cyberpunk 2077 centers on V, a dying mercenary who is implanted with the digital imprint of the late rock star and terrorist Johnny Silverhand (played by Reeves). Idris Elba appears in the Phantom Liberty expansion. Considered a modern masterpiece, the game has sold more than 40 million copies to date after overcoming a bug-filled launch in 2020.
Cyberpunk 2077 has also been adapted into the hit Netflix anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, with Season 2 debuting later this month. A sequel to the game is also in development under the working title Cyberpunk 2.
