Before you see the Alejandro G. Iñárritu film Digger, Warner Bros. really wants you to remember how much you like Tom Cruise. So this teaser trailer leads with over two minutes of clips from past Cruise films — not just his work in the Mission: Impossible series, but his wide range of roles including Interview with the Vampire, Born on the Fourth of July, Tropic Thunder, Magnolia, Jerry Maguire, and Edge of Tomorrow. (A lot of Edge of Tomorrow, in fact.)
The remaining moments of the trailer are saved for a few quick glimpses of the upcoming “comedy of catastrophic proportions,” with Cruise’s titular character’s signature cowboy boots on full display. Not yet on full display is his character’s face, which is said to look “way more like Garry Marshall than like Ethan Hunt” thanks to prosthetics.
