Drake returned on Friday with a three-album drop comprising the previously announced Iceman, the R&B-focused Habibti, and the dance record Maid of Honour. For the rap fans, Iceman finds Drake at his angriest, throwing thinly veiled subliminals and sneak disses on songs including “Whisper My Name,” “Make Them Pay,” and “Make Them Remember.”
Besides his biggest rival, Kendrick Lamar, Drake lashes out at former friends who abandoned him in recent years. This includes former collaborators such as J. Cole, Rick Ross, Travis Scott, and DJ Khaled.
He also hits out at the usual suspects, including longtime rivals like JAY-Z, Pusha T, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams. Non-rappers aren’t safe, either, as Drake also targets NBA stars LeBron James and DeMar DeRozan.
See a breakdown of Drake’s disses on Iceman below.
Kendrick Lamar
“Janice STFU”: “White kids listen to you ’cause they feel some guilt and that’s how your soul gets fulfilled/ Handin’ out turkeys on camera inside of your hood, then you go back to the hills.”
“Whisper My Name”: “Whisper my name and don’t say it too loud/ ‘Cause you gotta come here and you know I pop out.”
“Make Them Pay”: “Damn, who is this guy for real? I guess a magician/ 100 million streams vanished, no one got questions for n****s.”
“Make Them Remember”: “And Muggsy Bogues dunked for once, even I’m a bit amazed/ Yeah, someone give the kid a raise.”
J. Cole
“Make Them Pay”: “Me, I stood ten T’s and accepted the mission/ ‘Cause I’d much rather death than submission/ How can you press the ignition and let some memories of the past affect your decision?/ I love you cause of the history, but if we being real, I could never forgive you/ And you never called me back, but destiny’s written, for real.”
“Make Them Remember”: “I could’ve fell back like the married rapper, but we engaged.”
JAY-Z
“Janice STFU”: “We know how you OGs rocking already, my n***a, the jig is up.”
“Whisper My Name”: “I’ll take $500K, not the dinner, I never could learn shit from none of y’all.”
LeBron James
“Make Them Remember”: “I shouldn’t even be shocked to see you in that arena/ Because you always made your career off of switchin’ teams up… Please stop askin’ about what’s goin’ on with 23 and me/ I’m a real n***a, and he’s not, it’s in my DNA.”
A$AP Rocky
“Burning Bridges”: “Your baby mama ain’t even post your single, damn/ Where she at? Yeah, where she at?/ Your baby mama ain’t even post your single, yeah… You saw my brother, you was tryna fix it/ Now you drop your album and you back dissin’, yeah.”
“Firm Friends”: K-Y-S A-S-A-P, that’s some shit that you could do for me.”
Pusha T and Pharrell:
“Make Them Pay”: “I got all the chains that they ever repped in Virginia/ I got n****s’ prized possessions, I get possessive on n****s.”
Rick Ross
“Make Them Pay”: “Dog, I was aidin’ Ross with streams before Adin Ross had ever streamed.”
Travis Scott
“Make Them Pay”: “I’m tryna catch one of you boys ‘Stargazin” in the field like little leaguers.”
DJ Khaled
“Make Them Pay”: “And, Khaled, you know what I mean/ The beef was fully live, you went halal and got on your deen/ And your people are still waitin’ for a free Palestine/ But apparently everything isn’t black and white and red and green.”
Mustard
“2 Hard 4 The Radio”: “Mustard heard about us, gotta catch up to the slaps/ You ain’t had one since me and YG rapped/ Facts, nine-hundred million for the tracks, Rack City, b*tch, we remember that, yeah, you should try and get back to that.”
DeMar DeRozan
“National Treasures”: “I sent ’em a sack ’cause I wanted you shipped to the king/ When you was a part of the team/ We must’ve been dealin’ the spur of the moment/ Cause why did we think you could get us a ring/ They braggin’ ’bout how you went home, the fuck are they on/ Crodie, we threw ’em away/ G Pop sent us a real one from Daygo/ And next thing we knew, we was doin’ parades.”
