Empire of the Sun brought their “Ask That God Tour” to the Northwell at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York, on Sunday night.
Led by frontman Luke Steele, the Australian electropop act played a 19-song career-spanning set, including six tunes from their most recent album, 2024’s Ask That God.

Set against a video backdrop of visually stunning imagery, Steele captivated the outdoor theater’s audience with favorites like “Changes,” “Half Mast,” and “We Are the People,” before closing out the main set with the hit “Walking on a Dream.”
Steele and the band then came out for an encore that included “Tiger by My Side” and the show-closing sing-along anthem “Alive.”
Other than a light rain that came down for about 30 minutes of Empire of the Sun’s set, it was a beautiful night at the venue’s oceanside setting. Polo & Pan warmed up the crowd for the headliner with a 50-minute DJ set, while Mexican electro-funk band Midnight Generation opened the evening with a fun half-hour performance.
Empire of the Sun’s tour continues through an October 9th show in Las Vegas, with tickets available via Ticketmaster or Vivid Seats (use code CONSEQUENCE20 to get $20 off your first purchase of $200 or more). See our photos from the Jones Beach concert, as well as the setlist, below.
