Gal Gadot is embracing her starring role in Doug Liman’s AI-powered movie Bitcoin, even if she fully admits to being nervous about the technology. In a new interview on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, she said that “I am afraid of AI, but I am going to be afraid and look away? No. I am afraid. But I am playing with it and learning it and trying to educate myself. The train has left the station. You’re going to work with it or be out of the game completely.”

The movie in question, which co-stars Gadot alongside Casey Affleck, Pete Davidson, and Isla Fisher, was shot on an empty stage, with AI being used to fill in the production design and lighting. According to Gadot, that was all AI was used for, and prior to starring in the movie she and her lawyers went through a six-month process to ensure that AI would not alter her acting work.

“This was the longest contract I have ever worked on,” she said, as recapped by Variety. “I did not want AI to have anything to do with my performance… As far as the performances, it’s all me.” Gadot’s lawyers were so rigorous during this process, she added, that the Screen Actors Guild called them for pointers about updating the existing SAG contract.

Although Gadot hardly sounds like an AI booster, based on her comments above, she does say that she is “trying to make the best of it and protect what I can protect.” And she did enjoy that the stripped-down production process made the experience of shooting Bitcoin fee llke “a pure art form of creating a movie… We would film nonstop because we didn’t have to wait for lighting. We would film on and on and on for 10 hours. It was amazing.”

Gadot’s last major starring role was in the live-action Snow White remake, which wasn’t great. She’ll next be seen in the Prime Video action flick The Runner.
