Halestorm and Bad Company’s Paul Rodgers Premiere Video for “Shooting Star”: Watch

Halestorm had the honor of teaming up with Paul Rodgers on a rendition of Bad Company’s “Shooting Star” for the recently released album Can’t Get Enough: A Tribute to Bad Company. Now, they’re premiering the video exclusively here at Heavy Consequence.

“Shooting Star” is a standout track from Bad Company’s 1975 album Straight Shooter, and considered one of the legendary rock band’s greatest songs.

Not only did Halestorm get to cover the tune for the aforementioned tribute album, they got to collaborate with the man who sang the original, Bad Company frontman Paul Rodgers.

“Joining a tribute album for Bad Company is more than covering songs; it’s adding a brushstroke to a masterpiece that’s been a part of our DNA for decades,” Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale tells Heavy Consequence. “To us it feels like stepping into a legacy built on grit and soul. And it is our pleasure to honor Paul Rodgers, the man who taught rock how to stand tall and sing truth, with the kind of voice that never lets time forget it. We wouldn’t be the rockers we are today without these boys.”

Rodgers adds, “Lzzy vocally shook and rocked ‘Shooting Star’ into the stratosphere. Halestorm recorded the song at their studio in Nashville, sent me the track and I recorded my vocal ad libs plus acoustic and electric guitar parts at Matt Sorum’s ‘Good Noise’ Studio in Palm Springs. However I did meet the band recently when they played in Canada and they were so humble and respectful they touched my heart.”

The video comes just a couple weeks after Bad Company were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Unfortunately, Rodgers couldn’t be there due to health concerns, but original drummer Simon Kirke played a couple songs with guest singers Chris Robinson and Bryan Adams.

Other artists who contributed to Can’t Get Enough: A Tribute to Bad Company include Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, The Struts, Dirty Honey, Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott and Phil Collen (with Rodgers and Kirke), and The Pretty Reckless.
