Has The X-Files found the Mulder to Danielle Deadwyler’s Scully, or the Scully to Danielle Deadwyler’s Mulder? Either way, Himesh Patel has been cast as the co-lead of Ryan Coogler’s upcoming reboot of the classic sci-fi series, which is currently in development at Hulu.
Patel’s impressive range of credits include starring in Danny Boyle’s Yesterday, the Armando Iannucci comedy The Franchise, and the acclaimed HBO Max limited series Station Eleven (which also starred Deadwyler, though their characters had separate storylines). In The X-Files, he’ll play (according to the logline) one of “two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents,” who “form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.”
