Jason Newsted Announces First-Ever US Headlining Tour with His Chophouse Band

Former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted has announced the first US headlining tour dates for his group Jason Newsted & The Chophouse Band, who play a combination of cover songs and original tunes.

Newsted and company will hit the road beginning July 1st in Northampton, Massachusetts, stopping at cities like Charlotte, North Carolina, and Columbus, Ohio, before finishing up with two dates at the legendary Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee on July 24th and 25th.

Overall, the band is playing 18 shows, with half of them headlining gigs and the other half supporting country-rock band Blackberry Smoke. Tickets to select shows will go on sale this Friday, April 24th, at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster, while other dates are available via links on the official Jason Newsted & The Chophouse Band website.

Newsted stated, “We’ll be performing TCB originals and selections from a few of our heroes. Even at places like the Ryman, we will play some acoustic-based tunes, but throughout the set it is guaranteed to get heavy!”

The metal veteran added, “I’ve realized that this is where I can place my energy effectively now. The Chophouse is the continuation of my ambassadorship of American music. TCB plays everything from bluegrass to fucking slabs of metal. We’re covering a lot of ground; There could be country flavor to a song, but it’ll still have sharp teeth.”

The Chophouse Band has been performing together in some form since 1992, but started playing gigs earnestly roughly 10 years ago. See videos of the band playing live last year , as well as the tour dates, below.
