Wife guy JAY-Z is back with his first proper verse since 2022, joining Beyoncé on a remix of her recent surprise drop “MORNING DEW (DONK).” Stream it below.
“MORNING DEW (DONK) REMIX” arrives as part of a four-track remix pack. JAY-Z comes in after a slightly reworked chorus and post-chorus, rightfully boasting about landing the hottest chick in the game. “Bitch so bad, I had to give her my last name,” he raps. “Come rep us on the set, they only hate us on the ‘net/ You n****s tweet a lot, all you do is tweet/ Pop it on the piles, but you ain’t doin’ shit/ We just makin’ love, we just gettin’ rich.”
Written by Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, The-Dream, and Darius Dixon, “MORNING DEW (DONK)” was surprise-released during the July 4th weekend. It was originally recorded in 2013 and subsequently leaked online. The track is set to appear on a 20th anniversary reissue of her sophomore solo album B’DAY.
JAY-Z’s last original rap verse was a fiery four-minute guest appearance on DJ Khaled’s 2022 all-star track “GOD DID.” In 2024, he made a spoken-word contribution to “I Want You Forever” from the soundtrack to The Book of Clarence, and his first collab with Nas, “No Love Lost,” hit streaming as part of Shaq’s third album, You Can’t Stop the Reign.
Beyoncé recently joined JAY-Z on stage during the first and third nights of his historic Yankee Stadium run from July 10th through 12th. The final show actually went well into the early hours of July 13th following a security breach.
HOV isn’t done with his 30th anniversary shows yet. On September 4th and 5th, he will play London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, followed by a Paris show at Stade de France on September 10th. He will then perform a two-night stand at LA’s SoFi Stadium on October 23rd and 24th.
