Late KISS legend Ace Frehley‘s iconic 1975 Les Paul guitar has sold for $512,000 at auction.
The Les Paul was sold as part of the Music Icon series via Jullen’s auction house, which also featured items from Stevie Ray Vaughn, Kirk Hammett, and Izzy Stradlin.
The guitar appeared onstage and in studio with KISS more than any other from 1975 till 1979. It was famously played by Frehley as part of the Nippon Budokan KISS shows in 1977 and featured a modification to support a third humbucker.
Other items of Frehley’s sold include his 1997 Les Paul Custom played at the Super Bowl XXXIII pre-game ceremony for $76,800; a light show Les Paul played on the 1996 KISS reunion tour for $57,600; a life-size stage-worn Destroyer costume mannequin with signed sheet music for $51,200; an acoustic guitar played as part of KISS’ 1995 appearance on MTV Unplugged for $28,800; a jumpsuit gifted to Frehley by Arthur Kane of the New York Dolls for $11,520; and a Rock and Roll Over-era bomber jacket for $8,960.
Ace Frehley passed away at 74 in October 2025 following a fall at his home studio.
