KISS legends Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons each threw out a ceremonial first pitch Saturday night at the Los Angeles Angels game in Anaheim, California, but Simmons didn’t stop at one pitch. The singer-bassist decided to throw three more first pitches until he was satisfied with the result.

It also started normally with Stanley and Simmons simultaneously throwing out a first pitch to respective catchers. In actuality, it was Stanley’s first pitch that was pretty awful, as it bounced to the mound, while Simmons’ initial throw was pretty decent, but just a little high.

Yet, despite the solid first effort, Simmons insisted on trying again, bouncing the next two pitches in the dirt before throwing a near-strike on the fourth attempt. He then posed like a rock star after finally getting it right.

Even the official Major League Baseball YouTube account poked fun at Simmons, captioning the video, “You’ve seen countless ceremonial first pitches… but KISS legend Gene Simmons just threw FOUR.”

As it turned out, Simmons and Stanley brought the Angels good luck, as the home team beat the Kansas City Royals 1-0.

Fans can catch Simmons and Stanley in their own element when KISS perform unmasked at the band’s 2026 KISS KRUISE: Landlocked in Vegas festival taking place at November 13th-15th at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. Pick up tickets here.
