You may or may not have noticed, over the 10 years since the release of La La Land, that Ryan Gosling‘s hand is doing something weird on the poster. Gosling has definitely noticed, though, and it appears to have been bugging him. So to commemorate the anniversary of Damien Chazelle’s Oscar-winning musical, Lionsgate has released a new version of the poster which features an improved version of Gosling’s hand, mid-dance-pose.
The official press release notes that “over the years, Ryan Gosling has noted on more than one occasion that he would love to fix his ‘La La hand’ from the original poster, most recently with a new dance partner. Well, Ryan, you have been heard!”
Who is the new dance partner they’re referring to? Why that would be Rocky, Gosling’s co-star in this year’s Project Hail Mary. In an Instagram post recently shared on the account of Eva Mendes (Gosling’s partner), Gosling and Rocky’s team of puppeteers actually recreated the pose. He might not have as many Oscars as Emma Stone, but Rocky’s still got some moves.
La La Land will be re-released in theaters on August 14th, and a concert series celebrating the film’s music is touring now. You can also purchase the film on 4K Ultra HD. Check out the revised poster — and Gosling’s Instagram post, featuring the original version — below.
