Laufey Performs “Lover Girl” on Fallon: Watch

Laufey made her return to the stage at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night, where she performed “Lover Girl” from her latest album, A Matter of Time.

Performing on a clock-heavy set themed to A Matter of Time and alongside an eight-piece ensemble, Laufey ran through an enchanting rendition of “Lover Girl.” As usual with the Icelandic jazz singer, her sound is suave and buoyant, taking a classic Bossa Nova groove and imbuing it with lush instrumentation and personality. Also on display is her breath control, which allows her to fit in syllable after syllable while still sounding effortless. Watch the performance below.

A Matter of Time, Laufey’s third full-length to date, is nominated for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album at the 2026 Grammys. She’s currently wrapping up a string of Jingle Ball appearances across the US; next year, she’ll tour the UK and Europe and also appear at Coachella.

Laufey also recently released a claymation music video for her cover of “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town.”
