Martin Herlihy is leaving Saturday Night Live after five seasons.
Herlihy first joined SNL in 2021 as a member of the comedy troupe Please Don’t Destroy alongside John Higgins and Ben Marshall. During his first four seasons on the show, he wrote and starred in the group’s pre-recorded sketches before transitioning primarily to a writing role for Season 51, while Higgins departed the series and Marshall was promoted to featured player status.
Herlihy’s departure was first reported by Late Nighter and confirmed by CONSEQUENCE. He becomes the second notable departure ahead of SNL’s Season 52 premiere on September 26th, following longtime cast member Chloe Fineman, who previously announced she would not be returning after seven seasons on the show.
