Even Mick Jagger knows Geese aren’t a psy-op.
Asked about the breakout rock group in an interview with GQ, the Rolling Stones frontman said, “They’re very experimental, Geese, really. I mean, for a rock band. I quite like it. I heard all the talk about it, and as soon as the record, [Getting Killed], came out, I was expecting it to be more indie. I wasn’t expecting it to be quite that out there, but I admire that.”
So, Goose aren’t the only ones who love Geese. We obviously agree with both of them, putting Getting Killed at No. 2 on our Best Albums of 2025 list. Interestingly, Mr. Jagger went on to shout out the album we put at No. 1.
“I mean, there’s also a lot of good women singers who have done great recently,” Jagger said about artists getting experimental. “Look at Rosalia’s album [Lux]. That was something really conceptual, really interesting. And she really pulled it off, and I really admire her for doing it.”
Elsewhere, Jagger called his collaboration with Burna Boy’s “Empty Chairs” “hilarious” while saying keeping up with modern music is “so much work. Loads of it is rubbish.” He also commented on the guests on The Rolling Stones’ upcoming Foreign Tongues, including Bruno Mars’ appearance (“I said, ‘Okay, Bruno, what do you want to play? Your choice of percussion…’ And that was his first thing. ‘I want to play a cowbell'”) and Paul McCartney (“He was always the polite one. John and I were the closest friends, but he’s the most acerbic one, and George was sort of quiet, but can be very needly, you know. And Ringo is Ringo.”) Read it all on GQ.
