Miley Cyrus has announced a new album, Bass Persuades, out on September 18th via Atlantic Records. She’s also confirmed two special headlining shows at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 16th and 18th.
Bass Persuades serves as Miley’s 10th studio album and the follow-up to last year’s Something Beautiful. It’s also marks her first release on Atlantic Records, having signed to the label from Columbia earlier this year. Also of note: she’s releasing it under the under the mononym “Miley,” making her the latest pop star to embrace a one-name identity.
Miley hasn’t offered many details on Bass Persuades, but she did tease the new project in a recent issue of Wonderland Magazine, which she guest-edited: “This album is a love story, but love stories are never one-dimensional. They’re always layered,” Miley said.
She continued: “There is definitely a romantic thread weaving through it because, like all my records, it’s a reflection of where I am in my life. But this one feels especially meaningful because this feeling has stayed with me through multiple eras. That’s something I hadn’t really experienced before. A peaceful kind of love has become a theme across my last three records. Not just the love I share with someone else, but the love I’ve found for myself. That’s probably been the biggest evolution. Once your relationship with yourself changes, every relationship around you changes too. I think this record celebrates both of those equally.”
Miley will support Bass Persuades with a significant return to the stage, performing two shows at the Hollywood Bowl on October 16th and 18th. The concerts will mark Miley’s first public shows in four years. Tickets for her Hollywood Bowl sets will first be available via an American Express pre-sale beginning Tuesday, September 8th at 10:00 a.m. PST through Wednesday, September 9th at 10:00 p.m. PST. In addition to revealing Something Beautiful and its accompanying film last year, Miley also took a trip down memory lane recently with the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special. For that special, which arrived on Disney+ in March, she released a new Hannah Montana song, “Younger You.”
The announcement of Bass Persuades comes just a week after the passing of Miley’s godmother, Dolly Parton. “I will always love her and want to make her proud,” she wrote in a tribute to Instagram. “My heart breaks for the world, her family and friends who will miss her deeply. We’re in this loss together and we will see her in all of the most beautiful things.”
