It’s going to be a beautiful day on the internets very soon — Fred Rogers Productions and Little Dot is launching the first official Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood YouTube channel on Thursday, June 4th. According to an official release, “the new channel will bring Fred Rogers’ timeless messages of kindness, community, and curiosity and wonder about the world to longtime and new fans globally.”
The channel will begin by debuting the first episode of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood to air nationally in 1968, along with four other full-length episodes. A new episode will be added to the channel each week, with 10 full episodes eventually available at any given time. The channel will also host clips and shorts, compilations of Mister Rogers content, and livestreams, along with exclusive archival footage and behind-the-scenes peeks.
“With its timeless messages of care and kindness, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood is as relevant now as when it first aired. We’re excited to make the series more available for families and fans with this official YouTube destination,” said Fred Rogers Productions chief creative officer and executive producer Ellen Doherty in a statement. “We think parents will connect with the authenticity of Fred Rogers’ messages. He was someone who really understood the big feelings and big questions of children — and of their grown-ups.”
