Molly Hatchet have announced Lost Horizons, their first album in 16 years, out November 27th via Steamhammer. Ahead of the release, the veteran rock band has unveiled the lead single “Dixie Highway.”

“Dixie Highway” is a classic slice of Southern rock, blending big fuzzed out riffs with country boogie. It feels less like a dramatic return and more as though Molly Hatchet never left, delivering by-the-book Southern rock hooks and rock and roll swagger. There is a piano led half-time stretch in the guitar solo that’s particularly groovy. The AI-driven video depicts the band alongside hot rods and lyrics of the song alongside glitz, glamor, and the romanticism of the American desert.
Molly Hatchet recorded the album at the famed Abbey Road Studios in London, with guitarist and songwriter Bobby Ingram stating, “In Studio 2, to be precise – that’s exactly where the Beatles worked 60 years ago. We used the same studio and the exact same microphones that Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr had. What’s more, Chris Bolster was our sound engineer, he’s worked with McCartney, Elton John, Kate Bush, Oasis, and the Foo Fighters. To me, it was an incredibly emotional experience to cut the new Molly Hatchet album under such awesome conditions.”
Elaborating on the new addition of younger players Garrett Ramsden on drums and Parker Lee on vocals, he added, “Garrett has brought a breath of fresh air to the band, and Parker brings to mind a young Danny Joe Brown, our unforgotten original singer. Both are perfect for our kind of Southern rock and have been instrumental in making Lost Horizon one of our most emotional and profound albums to date!”
