Mötley Crüe performed their iconic hits “Home Sweet Home” and “Kickstart My Heart” with Carrie Underwood on the season finale of American Idol on Monday night, May 11th.
The performance started with Tommy Lee on piano as the band played the ballad “Home Sweet Home” with singer Vince Neil duetting with Underwood. Lee then jumped on the drums as the Crüe launched into the hard-rocking “Kickstart My Heart,” with Underwood’s powerful pipes giving the chorus some extra punch.
Back in 2007, Underwood joined Mötley Crüe onstage to perform “Kickstart My Heart” in Nashville, Tennessee. Additionally, a performance of “Home Sweet Home” performed by Underwood was used in the 2009 season of the talent search program, played for contestants who were sent off of the show after that week’s voting.
Other artists who performed on last night’s season final of American Idol included Jason Mraz, Nelly, Clay Aiken, Shinedown, En Vogue, Tori Kelly, Blues Traveller, and Gin Blossoms.
