Nita Strauss, guitarist for Alice Cooper and solo artist, has welcomed her first child with husband Josh Villalta. The couple are proud parents of a baby boy named Maxwell James Villalta.

Little Maxwell was born on May 28th, weighing 7 pounds, 6 ounces, and measuring 20 inches long. The couple shared the news in a People magazine feature.

Strauss, who made Consequence‘s list of the 100 Best Guitarists of All Time, told People, “We’re in the full on newborn trenches: exhausted, running on fumes and figuring new parenthood out as we go, and it’s still been the most fulfilling and incredible time of our lives. Even after only a few days of motherhood, it’s already the best thing I’ve ever done.”

The couple also shared that they listened to Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters” as Strauss was getting ready to give birth.

“As we prepared to meet our son, the song seemed to capture exactly how we felt that day, nothing else mattered except the love we shared and the new life we were about to welcome into the world,” said Villalta.

Strauss is currently on maternity leave from Alice Cooper’s band, with guitarist Anna Cara filling in for her on the shock rocker’s 2026 tour dates. Villalta is also Strauss’ manager and the drummer in her solo band.

Congratulations to Nita Strauss and Josh Villalta on the birth of their son Maxwell. See photos in the Instagram slideshow below.
