Olivia Rodrigo staged a surprise popup set at Primavera Sound on Saturday, which included the debut of her new collaboration with Robert Smith of The Cure. The song, titled “what’s wrong with me,” comes from Rodrigo’s upcoming album you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love (due out June 12th). And as she explained in introducing the song, “it’s really special to me for so many reasons — primarily because it’s my first collaboration. I can’t believe this song exists and with the person that it exists with.”

Rodrigo and Smith have struck a close friendship over the last couple years, with The Cure frontman first joining the pop star on stage during her headlining set at Glastonbury in 2025. They kept in touch as Rodrigo was making her third album (“She calls me up quite a bit to talk about clothes and fashion – and we have enjoyed a couple of memorable nights in the studio together,” Smith told Vogue in a recent interview), and Smith himself grew to be a big fan of her music (I bought Sour, and then Guts … Although most of the songs on those two albums are not really ‘aimed at my demographic’ (!), they are all so good that it is hard not to fall in love with them.)
“what’s wrong with me” marks the third track we’ve heard from you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love ahead of its release, following “drop dead” and “the cure” (which, ironically, has nothing to do with Smith’s band). She also performed both of these songs during her set at Primavera Sound, as well as past favorites like “bad idea right?,” “deja vu,” “all-american bitch,” and “good 4 u.” Fans can expect to hear these songs and more when she heads on on “The Unraveled Tour” beginning in September.
The Cure played their own set at Primavera Sound on Friday, treating Barcelona to a 29-song set of deep cuts, surprises, and beloved classics.
