Larry David should no longer expect any invitations to Paul McCartney’s concerts.
During a guest appearance on Friday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, McCartney was asked about the Curb Your Enthusasiam not singing along to “Hey Jude” at a small club show in Los Angeles earlier this year.
Jimmy Kimmel: “The last time I saw you was in March in Los Angeles. You did a very intimate show at the Fonda Theatre, 1,200 seats. It was a fantastic show, and I was struck by a number of things. And one of them was something actually we discussed on the show; I don’t know if you’re aware of this.
“So, Larry David was at the show. You know Larry, right?”
Paul McCartney: “I know Larry.”
Kimmel: “Larry actually complained to me, because when you sang ‘Hey Jude,’ you encouraged everybody to sing ‘Na, na, na, na.’ And Larry looked over at me, and I was singing along, whereas he was just sitting there like this, and refused to sing.”
McCartney: “Yeah, I know. I know. I talked to him about it, afterwards. I said, ‘But how come, Larry?’ He said, ‘I didn’t want to do it.’ So, he didn’t do it.”
Kimmel: “Will he be invited to the next show?”
McCartney: “Never. That’s it.”
When David appeared on Kimmel back in June, he gave a very Larry David answer for why he chose not to sing along.
McCartney’s October 2nd appearance was part of the final night of Jimmy Kimmel’s takeover of Brooklyn.
