A set that Queens of the Stone Age performed for “Live at KEXP” in late April has just been uploaded in full to YouTube by the Seattle radio station.

The performance is the entirety of the second act of QOTSA’s three-act “Catacombs” show, which concluded its touring run on May 1st.

Both the tour it was drawn from and this set in particular see the sludgy alt-rock band performing orchestral re-arrangements of their material, occasionally performing medleys of multiple songs. The extended lineup of Queens of the Stone Age here includes tuba, French horn, violin, cello, and more.

Frontman Josh Homme casually waves a cleaver dressed in a sharp suit under haunting red lights, giving the sense of a Lynchian cabaret performance in Hell, fitting for the often gothic timbres of the music.

The show ends with a brief interview with Josh Homme about the decision and process in playing the Catacombs in Paris, as well as re-orchestrating the band’s material for the tour that followed.

Queens of the Stone Age are currently preparing to hit the road once again in North America as part of Foo Fighters’ “Take Cover” tour this August through September. Get tickets here.
