Queens of the Stone Age have unveiled “Where the Goth Girls At?” as the latest single from their upcoming album, Perfecth, set for release on October 30th.
The song follows previous singles “Easy Street” and “Insignificant Other,” and features frontman Josh Homme reflecting on his youth in the suburbs of Palm Desert in California.

“Watching the goth girls working the counter at JCPenney and giving goth makeovers to the old ladies, that’s when I knew the only place I want to be is where the goth girls at,” stated Homme of the song. “Teenage love, ain’t it grand?”
Prior to the single’s release, Consequence had a chance to discuss the song with Homme, particularly the line, “Never felt so alive since the day I almost died,” and how it relates to his near-death experiences, including the time he almost drowned at age 12 during a boating accident in Idaho.
“I think everyone in this life is either experiencing a near-life or near-death experience, or you certainly will if you haven’t,” Homme told us. “There’s a bit of euphoria post those [experiences]. I almost drowned when I was 12, and it was really wonderful in the days and weeks post that [incident[. Food tastes amazing and the sunset was f**kin’ juicy.”
He added, “I’m not saying you should go out and get yourself a near-death experience, but certainly those occur, and that euphoria, it takes a while to dissipate, and it’s hard not to feel the joy in those moments after that.”
The song is accompanied by a music video directed by Christopher Gruse and Tony Wolski, and featuring comedian Steve Agee, dancer/artist Scarlett Kapella, and singer/actress Lou Lou Safran, along with Homme and other members of QOTSA.
Queens of the Stone Age have a few more dates supporting Foo Fighters on a North American stadium tour (pick up tickets here). After that, they’ll play the Aftershock festival in Sacramento, followed by a one-off show in Iceland, and then tours of Japan and Australia/New Zealand to finish out the year.
