Rosalía may spend years perfecting her albums, but once they’re finished, she has no interest in hearing them again.

In a new interview with CBS Sunday Morning, the Spanish singer revealed that she never listens back to her own records, explaining that doing so would only encourage her to revisit decisions she’s already made.

“I never listen to my albums,” Rosalía said. Asked why, she replied, “Because it’s pointless.”

“I’ve created to share it, to let it go,” she continued. “Why would I listen it back? It would be torture.”

The admission is particularly striking given the meticulous approach behind her latest album, LUX, which took two years to complete. Rosalía told interviewer Seth Doane that even now, she can imagine making adjustments, from raising the violins by half a decibel to recording another vocal take.

The singer also discussed the demands of performing material from LUX, which features lyrics in 14 languages, operatic vocals, and orchestral arrangements. She described its accompanying tour as the most demanding of her career.

Rosalía’s comments come amid a string of recent US television appearances. Last week, she performed “Reliquia” and “Magnolias” on Saturday Night Live and visited The Tonight Show where she revealed that Bono had sought her advice on Spanish lyrics for a new U2 song inspired by her.
