In the years after Peart’s death, Mosbach produced the “Bubba Bash” charity event, named after one of Peart’s many nicknames, with celebrity musicians coming to generate money for brain cancer research.

Mosbach was often known by his nickname “Praetorian” and acted as a riding partner to Neil Peart during the many years the drummer spent driving between shows on his motorcycle, and appeared in a number of Peart’s travelogues.

RUSH released a statement honoring Mosbach, saying:

As many Rush fans know, Michael Mosbach was Neil’s longtime security and riding partner on tour for decades. Through thick and thin, he was always there for Neil, and for that we are eternally grateful.

We are saddened to now share that he has passed after his own cancer battle.

Our sincere condolences to his family & friends, and our greater Rush family that worked with him over the years. RIP Michael

RUSH are currently on their acclaimed “Fifty Something” reunion tour on which classic members Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson are joined by drummer Anika Nilles and keyboardist Loren Gold. Get tickets here.
