RUSH’s “Fifty Something” reunion tour has been an overwhelming success thus far, with sold-out arenas and rave reviews. Now, the prog-rock legends’ four-night stand in their hometown of Toronto will be captured for an upcoming concert film.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band will play Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena on August 7th, 9th, 11th, and 13th as part of their ongoing North American tour, which extends into December.
RUSH singer-bassist Geddy Lee let fans in Toronto know that they’ll be on camera in an Instagram post that reads as follows:
“It’s always a hard decision as to where to film a live concert. Given the limited cities we are able to play, the demand for such a film has been off the charts, not only as a keepsake of their experience, but for those many fans that have not been able to see it live.
Toronto being hometown made it a natural choice, and being the last mini-residency of 4 shows, playing over 40 songs which gives us the best chance to capture it all.
We know there are fans traveling here from all across the globe and that will make it a special week. This tour, being a celebration of our history and a tribute to Neil has been an emotional outpouring from the fans and from us. They have been louder and prouder than ever before, and we hope to capture them letting their ya-yas out while rockin’ their best ‘Tom Sawyer’ air drum fills!”
Having launched in early June, the RUSH tour has been met with universal praise. Consequence witnessed shows at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles and Madison Square Garden in New York City, and both concerts were absolutely thrilling.
Lee and fellow classic member Alex Lifeson are joined by drummer Anika Nilles (filling the shoes of the late Neil Peart) and keyboardist Loren Gold on this tour.
