Anthrax will return to Brazil in 2027 as part of the touring cycle behind their upcoming album, Cursum Perficio, according to guitarist Scott Ian.
“Not this year, but definitely next year,” Ian told Rolling Stone Brasil. “The album comes out in September, but the real tour will start in January. We’ll start early next year, and I’m sure we’ll be in Brazil in 2027.”
While Ian stressed that Anthrax have no plans to retire, he acknowledged that Cursum Perficio, their first album in a decade, could conceivably be their last full-length.
“I don’t know if we’ll make another album,” he said. “We’re going to release this album and then tour for two years. And then we’ll all be 65 and we’ll see how we feel. We might also just release individual songs. Who knows?”
Ian had previously fueled speculation about the band’s future in a May interview with Metallerium. Asked at the time whether the album’s title, Latin for “I complete my journey,” signaled a farewell, he replied, “No. We’re not saying that,” before adding, “I’m not saying no either.”
Ian also told Rolling Stone Brasil that if Anthrax were planning a final album or tour, they would announce it rather than “disappear mysteriously.”
