Shudder to Think are back with their first new EP in nearly 30 years. The post-hardcore vets will release the three-song EP Who Sent You? on September 11th via Dischord Records, and have shared its title track ahead of the release.
“Who Sent You?” reaches back to Craig Wedren’s teenage years in Cleveland before he relocated to Washington, D.C., with the singer describing the song as a reflection on being “young, horny, bored” in the 1980s. “It’s both a collage of memories, refracted through the prism of time, and a message back to my younger self,” Wedren said. “Above all, it’s a nocturnal THANK YOU to all of the girls, family, friends, music, and invisible hands that lit the path, angels and devils both. Who, indeed, sent you?” Sonically, “Who Sent You?” taps right back into the knotty, unpredictable sound Shudder to Think helped pioneer, proving that nearly three decades away hasn’t dulled their instincts or skill.

The EP follows Shudder to Think’s return last year with “Thirst Walk” and “Playback,” their first new songs in decades, which arrived on a limited 7-inch through Dischord. The reunion also brought the band back to the stage for its first performances in more than a decade. Their last studio album, 50,000 B.C., arrived in 1997, followed by soundtrack work including High Art and First Love, Last Rites in 1998.
Shudder to Think will mark the EP’s arrival with their only live dates of 2026, beginning September 11th at Philadelphia’s First Unitarian Church before stops at New York’s Bowery Ballroom and the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever in Los Angeles. The current lineup reunites Pony Express Record-era members Wedren, Nathan Larson, and Adam Wade alongside guitarist Clint Walsh and bassist Jherek Bischoff. The band’s influential 1994 album celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2024.
