Soul Glo have announced a new album titled NA I’M GON GRAB ALLAT, set to arrive January 15th via Epitaph Records. Ahead of its release, the Philadelphia hardcore band has unleashed the lead single “February Theory” along with an accompanying music video.
“February Theory” is a hardcore ripper that sounds straight out of 1983. There’s just enough touch of alternative rock to add some melody but between the vocal delivery, that truly nasty driving bass, and the expertly textural guitars switching between hardcore riffing and atmospheric chugs, it’s a banger through and through.
The track ends with a sudden shift to hip-hop so smooth and natural it’s no wonder Soul Glo have been racking up accolades the past few years, including having their last album, Diaspora Problems, top Consequence’s list of the 30 Best Metal & Hard Rock Albums of 2022.
The album is themed around resentments, anxieties and, per the band, the “quote unquote male loneliness epidemic.” Vocalist Pierce Jordan described the album as “largely about failures, mine and others, in my relationships with different men in my life,” adding that it is dedicated to “everyone who has known the
joy and pain of loving a man. All different types of love: platonic, romantic, familial, self.”
