The surviving members of Soundgarden will reunite for a halftime performance at the Seattle Seahawks’ home opener at Lumen Field on September 9th. The band will be fronted by The Pretty Reckless’ Taylor Momsen, with Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready providing additional guitar.

The game will kick off the 2026-2027 season, and will feature the defending NFL champs the Seahawks playing New England Patriots, the team they defeated in last season’s Super Bowl. McCready will also perform the National Anthem prior to the game.

Following frontman Chris Cornell’s death in May 2017, Soundgarden have only performed a handful of gigs with guest singers. Momsen was among the vocalists who joined the band during a performance at their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in November 2025, the last time they took the stage.

Soundgarden members Matt Cameron, Kim Thayil, and Ben Shepherd have been working on a new album featuring vocals that Cornell recorded before his passing. Last month, Cameron reported that the album is in the mixing stages, and that the band was coming up with a plan for its release.

The Seahawks-Patriots game will kick off at 8:20 p.m. ET / 5:20 p.m. PT on NBC. Three hours prior to kickoff, country star Luke Bryan will headline the NFL’s “Salute 250 Kickoff Concert” at the Lumen Field North Lot.
