The upcoming Street Fighter, as revealed in the new trailer released by Paramount, will do something the 1994 movie didn’t: Actually feature some real street fighting. In theaters this October, the new adaptation of the Capcom video game brings together an extremely eclectic cast for an epic tournament featuring the world’s greatest fighters — some of whom look more than a little weird.
According to the official description, Street Fighter is a period piece:
Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury. But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s GAME OVER!
This new trailer features an unreleased version of Tupac Shakur’s “Ambitionz Az a Ridah,” originally created for Mike Tyson in the ’90s… before segueing to 4 Non Blondes’ “What’s Up,” as performed by Centineo’s Ken. One fascinating twist: Chun-Li’s recruitment efforts lead to the trailer also passing the Bechdel Test — admittedly because Cammy (Mel Jarnson) makes a crack about Chun-Li’s thighs, but it still counts!
The Street Fighter cast also includes Roman Reigns as Akuma, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, Eric André as Don Sauvage, Orville Peck as Vega, and Jason Momoa as Blanka. The ass-kicking begins October 16th, 2026 in theaters — check out the new trailer below, and revisit where the original Street Fighter landed on our list of the worst video game adaptations of all time.
