Sturgill Simpson has brought Mutiny After Midnight, his latest album under his Johnny Blue Skies moniker, to streaming services several months after its physical-only release in early March. Stream it via Apple Music or Spotify below.
The expanded edition of the project, which we named one of the best albums of March 2026, includes three bonus tracks: covers of Eddie Murphy’s “Party All the Time,” William Bell’s “You Don’t Miss Your Water,” and Procol Harum’s “A Whiter Shade of Pale.” These Johnny Blue Skies songs, recorded alongside backing band The Dark Clouds, were previously exclusive to either iTunes or a Record Store Day 7-inch vinyl release.

“We made this record with a sense of immediacy and in the moment expression with the pure intention of simply having fun and making people forget about anything else, even if for only 44 minutes,” Simpson shared in a previous statement. “Find a place to crank it with some friends or even strangers…you might even get laid.”
Johnny Blue Skies & The Dark Clouds are set to kick off their 2026 North American tour in September, with stops in major cities including Los Angeles, Vancouver, Chicago, Nashville, and New York. Grab your seats via Ticketmaster.
Mutiny After Midnight debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart despite being only available on vinyl, CD, and cassette at the time.
