The Highwomen have returned with the surprise release of a new live album, Live at the Gorge 2023. The digital-only album is available to stream below, and purchase through the band’s website.
Live at the Gorge 2023 captures the most recent concert from the quartet of Brandi Carlile, Maren Morris, Natalie Hemby, and Amanda Shires, a June 11th, 2023 appearance at Carlile’s Echoes Through the Canyon weekend at George, Washington’s The Gorge Amphitheater. The set saw the country supergroup performing all 12 tracks from their 2019 self-titled debut, plus 11 covers including Elton John’s “Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters,” Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain,” Alex Harvey’s “Delta Dawn” with Tanya Tucker, and solo cuts from Morris (“My Church”) and Hemby (“Radio Silence”).

The live album leaves off three performances from the show: Carlile’s “The Joke,” Tucker’s “The Wheels of Laredo,” and a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Hurricane.”
Joining the group during the concert were Tucker, Brittney Spencer, and Allison Russell, all of whom appear in the album’s accompanying live video for “Redesigning Women” (plus an Annie Lennox cameo), though only Spencer is credited as featured. Watch that ahead.
Live at the Gorge 2023 arrives ahead of The Highwomen’s reunion taking place this Sunday, May 30th, once again at Echoes Through the Canyon. The bill also includes Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt, Wynonna Judd, and Spencer. Later this summer, The Highwomen are scheduled to perform at Morris’ July 19th concert at Red Rocks in Colorado. At that last concert three years ago, the group teased the idea of working on a second full-length, a moment intentionally included in the “Redesigning Women” video. With the live album and reunion, could The Highwomen be gearing up for an official announcement on their long-awaited follow-up?
