Ty Segall Announces New Album Chrome, Reveals New Song “Black Paint”: Stream

Ty Segall has announced a new album, Chrome, out on August 28th via Drag City. He’s also shared the album’s first single, “Black Paint,” and announced an additional EP, Love Fuzzz.

Chrome serves as Segall’s 18th studio album and follows 2025’s Possession. Like its title suggests, Segall’s new project takes on a more metallic sonic direction, with a rougher sound hearkening back to his 2012 releases Slaughterhouse and Twins. He recorded the album with Cooper Crain at Sonic Ranch studios in Texas. Also set to be released the same day as Chrome is his Love Fuzzz EP, a limited release that will feature an alternate version of Segall’s 2012 cut “My Pet Guru.”

“Black Paint,” the first single off of Chrome, showcases the album’s raw, fuzz-laden sound. The guitars are at gritty lows beneath Segall’s soaring vocals, which are a little more pristine than the band’s rock-heavy approach; it’s got traces of Black Sabbath with a healthy dose of the slacker rock that Segall cut his teeth making. “Black Paint” also arrives with a music video depicting Segall performing the song with his newly regrouped bandmates, Ben Boye, Evan Burrows, Mikal Cronin, and Emmett Kelly. Segall will support Chrome with a fall tour of Europe and the UK; so far, his only US shows in 2026 are a solo acoustic set in Mariposa, California on August 2nd and a show at the KEXP Summer BBQ in Seattle on August 22nd. Get tickets to see Ty Segall live here.
