Vanilla Ice was washed out of performing the controversial Great American State Fair Friday after being one of the only musicians not to bail on the event.

About two hours before the rapper was scheduled to hit the stage of the Great American State for an “I Love the 90s” concert, organizers pulled the plug because of weather. Rains made some of Freedom 250’s events, including Vanilla Ice’s performance, unsafe, organizers said.

The “Ice Ice Baby” rapper had stuck with the Great American State Fair, put together by President Donald Trump’s Freedom 250 organization, even as nearly every other performer backed out within days of the bill being announced. Artists expressed they were misled about the event being nonpartisan. Martina McBride, Young MC, The Commodores, Morris Day & The Time, Bret Michaels, C+C Music Factory, and Fab Morvan of Milli Vanilli all exited. Flo Rida is still scheduled to perform on July 2nd.

Vanilla Ice had defended sticking with the Great American State Fair, saying his performance wasn’t about politics but bringing people together through music.

The Great American State Fair, a 16-day event meant to celebrate America’s semiquincentennial celebration, commenced Wednesday at the national mall in Washington D.C. With so many cancellations, Trump and his team rearranged the opening day as more of a political rally.
