All four members of the Venezuelan nu-metal band Van Der Dijs are among the more than 1,700 people confirmed dead as a result of the pair of devastating earthquakes that hit Venezuela on Wednesday, June 23rd.
According to Ultimas Noticias, the band — Manuel van Der Dijs (vocals), Gabriel Gómez (guitar), Xander Hernández (bass), and Abraham Foucault (drums) — was at their rehearsal space at the Venezuelan city of La Guaira when the earthquakes struck, reducing the building to rubble. Their bodies were found by a rescue team working in the area.
Van Der Dijs formed in 2024 and released several singles, including the new song “15 Minutes” just one month ago. Their music videos and live performances can be seen at their official YouTube channel.
The band had just played a sold-out show at the Experimental Hall of the Modern Art Center in La Castellana, Caracas five days before the earthquakes, and had other gigs booked for June 27th and August 8th.
Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the members of Van Der Dijs, as well as all the victims of the Venezuela earthquakes. See the band’s most recent music videos below.
