The masses will soon have an opportunity to experience on the silver screen a cinematic masterpiece — “Weird Al” Yankovic’s UHF.

The screening happens October 31st at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Yes, you read that right. People will be blessed with the 1989 off-the-wall comedy cult classic starring the music parody king in a theatre setting for the film’s 37th anniversary, a nice, even and understandable number. At the screening, the film’s original score will be performed live by a full orchestra for the first time conducted by the score’s composer John Du Prez. Following the movie will be a Q&A with Yankovic and surprise guests, according to a press release.

A Live Nation pre-sale for tickets to the event begins Wednesday, June 17th at 10:00 a.m. PDT. The general on-sale begins Thursday, June 18th at 10:00 a.m. PDT via Ticketmaster.

“I’m so excited to join the great John Du Prez on stage at the Greek to celebrate the 27th anniversary of the 10th anniversary of the release of UHF,” Yankovic said in a statement. “This will truly be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

Co-written by Yankovic and Jay Levey, who also directed, promotional material at the time of the release described UHF’s story: “George Newman (Yankovic) has an imagination that works overtime. But George himself can’t hold a job for more than 24 hours. Then one day his Uncle Harvey wins a tiny ‘UHF’ television station in a poker game, and names George its new manager on the grounds that nobody could screw up things at the station any worse than they already are.” The film also stars Kevin McCarthy, Michael Richards, David Bowe, and Stanley Brock.

UHF is a classic for any “Weird Al” fans and consumers of pop culture and cinematic ephemera.

Mr. Yankovic is currently on the “Bigger & Weirder Tour,” which runs summer to fall. Fans can get tickets here.
