Expect Wes Anderson’s next movie to feature a scene in which at least three characters get stuck in an elevator together. That’s exactly what happened on Monday, July 6th, when the filmmaker was trapped in an elevator at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures while attempting to exit a 30th anniversary celebration of Bottle Rocket.
The Simpsons producer James L. Brooks and Luke Wilson were among the other indiviuals stuck in the elevator “for 45 fucking minutes,” as actor, filmmaker, and musician King Orba captured in an Instagram video. Before the Los Angeles Fire Department’s rescue, Wilson relatablely can be heard saying he was worried about having to go to the bathroom.

Following the incident, the gears seemed to be turning in Anderson’s head about his next project. “Do you have any experience with what was wrong with it?” he asked a firefighter, who responded: “Probably had too much weight in there. Usually that’s what it is.”
Anderson replied, “Okay, thank you very much.” Watch the clip below.
Though Save Your Cinema claimed Anderson was trapped in a “secret passageway/elevator so celebrities can enter and exit without public interference,” The Hollywood Reporter could not confirm whether Anderson had taken an alternative exit.
In other Wes Anderson news, a Hollywood Bowl concert series featuring music from his films takes place later this week, from July 10th through 12th. The stacked guest list includes frequent collaborators like Bill Murray and DEVO’s Mark Mothersbaugh, alongside Beck and indie rock royalty like Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O and My Morning Jacket’s Jim James.
